Three Men Arrested in St. Lucie Grow House Operation

On the morning of December 2, three men were arrested by St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office investigators for allegedly running a marijuana grow house, with officials also seizing 92 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $275,000.

Orley Recio and his brother-in-law, Wildo Dumont, both 43 and living in Fort Pierce, were arrested with Dumont’s 26-year-old son, Daikel Dumont-Rodriguez, a Vero Beach resident, after being identified by authorities through an interior covert camera in the house. Subsequent to the arrest, three pickup trucks and $21,000 in cash found in the sock drawer of Dumont were also seized.

The trio faces a series of both felony and misdemeanor charges, most of them drug-related. The arrests came after a three-month investigation which began after complaints of a possible grow house in operation.

When officials executed a search warrant, they indicated that the home had no working bathrooms or personal effects, with 35 cannabis plants in various stages of growth in view. In addition, a so-called nursery was allegedly in the garage, with juvenile marijuana plants.

Dumont was being held on $116,599 bail in the St. Lucie County jail, while Recio and Dumont-Rodriguez remained in jail in lieu of $91,500 bail.

The nature of the crimes shows that this trio is in need of an experienced St Lucie County Drug Defense Lawyer like Jeffrey Garland. He’s defended clients at both the state and federal level that were facing a variety of drug charges, including running a grow house.

Garland knows that in order to prove their case in such matters, the State must clearly show that an individual (or individuals) charged knew that drugs were both present and that the accused was in a position to control them.

Standard operating procedure for police in these matters is to arrest all people who happen to be in an area where drugs are found. In most cases, these areas relate to arrests of people within the same vehicle or home, but simply being in the wrong place isn’t evidence of any guilt.

Jeffrey Garland has more than 30 years of experience as a lawyer and always provides each client with a vigorous defense to make sure that justice is truly served. So if you or someone you know is in need of a St Lucie Drug Crime Lawyer, contact Jeffrey Garland today at 772-489-2200 or 772-489-0610.
