Two Arrested in St. Lucie for Operating Marijuana Grow House
Two men wee arrested in Port St. Lucie on charges of operating a marijuana grow house in their garage. Police executed a search warrant and reported a marijuana grow operation of 21 plants with more than 25 pounds of weed and also cultivation equipment. The two men have been charged with marijuana trafficking, marijuana cultivation of more than 20 grams, and marijuana possession with the intent to distribute. Both men are being held at the St. Lucie County Jail.Florida has mandatory laws and penalties against the possession and sale of marijuana. The possession of more than 20 grams and less than 25 plants can be charged as a felony with jail time of five years and a maximum fine of $5,000. Possession of 25 plants or more is a felony with jail time of 15 years and a $5,000 fine. For 10,000 pounds or more, the felony charge can be up as high as 30 years with a $200,000 fine. A misdemeanor may be charged for possession of 20 grams or less and the sale of 20 grams or less without remuneration. The possession of marijuana paraphernalia is also a misdemeanor with one year jail time and a $1,000 fine.
