Man Arrested After St Lucie County Drug Delivery

Police stopped a drug transaction dead in its tracks the other day in St. Lucie County. They ended up arresting two men who were transporting drugs in a KIA Soul vehicle. The driver’s name was Lawrence David Wilson, and he received a citation for driving on a suspended license. The 25-year-old culprit paid a bail amount of $375 for his release from jail.

The other defendant, Derrick Delva, had much more to worry about than the state of his driver’s license. Police found more than three pounds of marijuana in his pocket after a police dog alerted them that a problem existed. They also found MDMA pills. To make matters worse, he was not wearing a seatbelt, and the driver had accelerated the vehicle to 40 miles in a zone that called for speeds of no more than 25 MPH.

Both defendants live in Fort Pierce and ended up in St. Lucie County Jail. Delva has not been released as of yet because of his $90,000 bail. The authorities charged him with possession of marijuana in excess of 20 grams, intent to sell and possession of a CDS without having a prescription for it. He is looking at quite a bit of jail time and will need a Fort Pierce criminal lawyer.

Consequences of Florida Drug Crimes

The driver did not receive many charges because perhaps he was unaware of the transaction. Police had surveillance set up because someone had tipped them off about the crime. Delva is facing at least five years in jail for the amount of marijuana he had in his possession. He may have to spend additional time in jail for the CDS possession. Intent to sell is another harsh charge that can add even more time to his sentence. Only a Fort Pierce criminal lawyer can help this man to sort out the issues at hand.
