On Friday, September 21, 2018, police of the Vero Beach Police Precinct in Florida arrested a man after he sexually assaulted a woman just outside of the Indian River County Main Library.

That Friday morning, a woman went to the police to report that she had been raped outside of the library building while she was sleeping in the area.

Vero Beach police officers subsequently arrested the man, who was reported as being 44 years old but was later determined as being 45. The man resides on the 1500 block of 14th Avenue in Vero Beach, Florida. Upon his arrest, the police charged him with sexual battery. He was taken to the Indian River County Jail and held without bail until he was scheduled to make his first court appearance on Saturday, September 22, 2018.  The man is now in need of a qualified Indian River criminal attorney.

Although the woman claimed she had been sleeping outside the library, it’s unclear whether she was homeless. It was at around 7 a.m. on September 21 when the police responded to reports of a sexual assault that took place outside of the library, which is located on 1600 21st Street. The responding police officers located the man on the library’s south side and arrested him on the scene.
