After two weeks of undercover work, the Indian County Sheriff’s Office Vice Unit took 21 people into custody recently in a warrant sweep. Of those, 18 were nabbed for selling drugs. A spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office reported that it had been involved in a number of undercover drug purchases, “and it was just time to do a sweep.” The agency’s vice unit participated in the sweep. “They just wanted to grab everybody at the same time.” The drugs reportedly seized included methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, prescription medications and marijuana.

Don’t Be Put Behind Bars
A representative of the Sheriff’s Office Vice Unit that handles drug and prostitution cases along with anything else that requires undercover work remarked that it spends more time on drug cases than anything else. He said that the unit is working “every day to try and put drug traffickers behind bars.” The spokesman wouldn’t comment on the drug enforcement techniques that the Vice Unit uses, but he did state that it shares resources with other agencies, including the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.
