Man’s Arrest Leads to Discovery of Two Port St. Lucie Grow Houses

Port St. Lucie Criminal LawyerVince Jones of Port St. Lucie called the police and reported that some people broke into his home, tied him up and stole several of his possessions. When the officers arrived, they found his door kicked in. Unfortunately for Vince, though, the possessions he identified as stolen were marijuana plants.

The police found several more marijuana plants still growing in the home. After further investigation, the police discovered that Jones was operating another grow house in the same neighborhood. A police sergeant said this second house was across the canal from Jones’s residence. Police recovered more than 50 pounds of marijuana from the residence and also found evidence of utilities theft. The house across the canal yielded more than 60 pounds of illegal plant life.

Now Vince is facing multiple charges, including producing and trafficking marijuana, and is in the Port St. Lucie jail in lieu of $90,000 bail. He definitely needs a Port St. Lucie criminal lawyer.

Being arrested on drug charges is serious business. Drug laws are complicated, and people in this spot need an experienced drug possession criminal lawyer. They need an attorney like Jeffrey H. Garland. Mr. Garland has a successful record of defense techniques against drug charges, including challenges to search and seizure, wire tap warrants and the reliability of so called “confidential informants.”

For example, did you know that a person isn’t guilty of possession just because he or she happens to be in a house where drugs are found? The State has to show that the person charged knew the drugs were present and had the ability to control them. Mere proximity to contraband doesn’t prove either knowledge or the ability to control. Persons charged need a good drug possession criminal lawyer like Mr. Garland, who understands these points of law.

On Mr. Garland’s website at http://www.treasurecoastlawyer.com/practice-areas/drug-cases/, you can see examples of drug possession cases he’s won. So if you or someone you know needs a Port St. Lucie criminal lawyer, contact The Law Office of Jeffrey H. Garland, P.A. at 772.489.2200.
