Case Name: State v. M.A.
Charges: Organized Fraud Less Than $20,000
Date: 04/01/10
Case Number: MC 06-CF-1390
Results: Pled to 1st Degree Petit Theft (Misde-meanor)
Facts:

MA was just 18 years old and working at a bowling alley. He was accused of pocketing cash paid for games and shoes.

Initially, MA put his head in the sand and ignored the situation. Almost two years later, he was arrested. He could ignore it no longer.

Attorney Garland assessed the situation and recommended unconditional cooperation. MA tendered full payment of restitution and a letter of apology without any guarantees from the State.

MA took responsibility for his actions. By doing so, he gained favorable cooperation from the bowling alley.

Under these circumstances, the State allowed MA to plea to a misdemeanor with a withhold of adjudication. MA was granted early termination of probation after just 35 days.

MA has enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and expects to serve his County in uniform.

Hats off to the prosecutor and judge for allowing this young man a chance to redeem himself.
